About CTL

The Center for Tomorrow's Leaders seeks to engage, equip and empower Hawaii’s next generation of leaders to start making a difference now.   These young leaders of character and competence will be the vanguard of creating a new era of growth in our schools and communities.  With signature programs and resources, the CTL works to find promising young leaders across our state, and to train them in comprehensive, character-focused programs.

In 2003, the CTL was founded by Keli’i and Patty Akina with the flagship CTL Fellows program, which is a year-long leadership program for 25 of Hawaii’s most promising juniors and seniors.  Fellows are given exclusive access to influential leaders and are guided by coaches who help them to expand their leadership capacity.  There are over 140 alumni of the program who have met with over 100 community leaders. In 2011, CTL responded to a need to reach more emerging leaders and launched the CTL Schools program.  The CTL partners with high schools to offer comprehensive leadership development course to a diverse group of non-traditional leaders.  Over the past 2 years, the course was piloted for over 200 emerging leaders at four schools:  Nanakuli HS, McKinley HS, Pearl City HS and Kamehameha Schools.  Read more about Schools Program here.
